Car Diagnostics Ashbourne | Computer Scanning & Inspections

Modern Cars Need Modern Diagnostics

Warning light? Unusual noise? We plug in, read your car’s computer, and find the real problem—not guessing, not trial-and-error.

Modern cars have computers that monitor engine performance, emissions, brakes, suspension, and more. When something’s wrong, the system flags it. But the warning light tells you something’s wrong not what. OBD (On-Board Diagnostic) scanning reads that computer data and gives us precise information. This saves you time, money, and frustration.

More Than Reading a Fault Code

A fault code tells you which system has reported a problem – it does not tell you which part has failed. Replacing parts based on a code alone is how drivers end up paying for repairs that do not fix the fault. Our diagnostic process goes further. We read the codes, look at live data from the sensors, and test the wiring and components involved using an oscilloscope and multimeter where needed. Many of the faults we find are not failed parts at all, but corroded connectors, damaged wiring or water getting into a control unit. Finding the real cause first means the repair is done once.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a diagnostic take?

A standard scan and initial assessment is usually done within an hour. Intermittent or electrical faults can take longer to trace – we will keep you informed.

It depends on the light. A red warning, a flashing engine light or a coolant or oil warning means stop and get it checked. An amber light usually means the car can be driven carefully, but it should be looked at soon – small faults often become expensive ones.

Yes. This is a large part of our work. We test the whole circuit rather than assuming the part is at fault.

Yes. Before you buy a used car we can check the engine, gearbox, electrics, suspension, brakes and stored fault codes, and tell you honestly what we find.
